Martha (Phipps) Lyerly

Martha Phipps Lyerly, 73, died Sunday, October 15, 2017, at Lake City Community Hospital.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at Carolina Funeral Home Chapel, Scranton, with burial to follow at Lake City Memorial Park. 

The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 am, Wednesday, prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Lyerly was born on April 10, 1944 in Lake City, daughter of the late Jimmy D. Phipps and Ruth Flowers Phipps. She was a longtime member of the Lake City First Baptist Church.  Martha was a golden graduate of the Medical University of SC School of Nursing and retired after many years as a Registered Nurse.

Surviving are her husband, George W. Lyerly, Sr. of Lake City; son, George W. "Will" (Erin) Lyerly, Jr. of Conway; grandchildren, Connor Lyerly and Caroline Lyerly; sister, Marjorie (Engrim) Tucker of Darlington; and a brother, Jimmy (Clary) Phipps of Montreat, NC.
