William Eugene Knotts

William Eugene Knotts, 87, husband of Shelby Lee Knotts, died Thursday, January 13, 2022, at Heritage Home, Florence.

Mr. Knotts was born on May 24, 1934, in Florence County, son of the late Henry Knotts & Eva Filyaw Knotts. He served in the United States Army and was the owner and operator of Knotts Building and Remodeling. Mr. Knotts was a member of the Bible Temple Church, served as the Assistant Fire Chief for over 30 years at the Scranton Fire and Rescue. He volunteered his time with the Scranton Dixie Youth Baseball League for many years.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Shelby Knotts of Scranton, are his children, Tommy (Shelia) Knotts, Terry Knotts, and Janet (Ronald) Matthews, all of Scranton; grandchildren, Erik (Sarah) Knotts, Alex (Brooke) Knotts, Lindsey (Ryan) Johnson, Lisa (Rev. Josh) Evans, Glenn (Fran) Matthews, Scott (Emily) Matthews, Bryan (Kelli) Knotts, April (Brian) Elender, and Corey Knotts; seventeen great grandchildren.

Mr. Knotts was preceded in death by a great granddaughter Anna Kathryn Matthews; daughter-in-law, Vicki Knotts; siblings, Alvin Knotts, Ruth Tedder,  Joyce Ashcraft, and Evon Knotts.

Funeral services will be 3:00 PM, Saturday, January 15, 2022, at Carolina Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow at Lake City Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 PM, Saturday, January 15, 2022, prior to the funeral.
