Mr. Wardie Davis “David” Lyerly, 75, of Poston Corner, husband of Mrs. Dottie Poston Lyerly, died Monday, October 3, 2022 at McLeod Regional Medical Center of the Pee Dee.
Mr. Lyerly was born on September 16, 1947 in Williamsburg County, son of the late Ovid Lyerly and Bessie Poston Lyerly. He was a veteran of the United States Army, and was a member of Mill Branch Free Will Baptist Church. He was a retired supervisor at Delta Mills, a farmer, and part owner of Carolina Funeral Home. Mr. Lyerly enjoyed fishing, planting his garden, riding his golf cart, pruning his fruit trees and supervising all of his family’s activities.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 56 years, Dottie Poston Lyerly, are his children, Ward (Jackie) Lyerly, Chris (Jennifer) Lyerly and Adam (April) Lyerly; grandchildren, Ben Lyerly, Madison (John) Isgett, Jordan Lyerly (fiancé, Nathan), Hannah Graham, Spencer Graham, Nicholas Lyerly, Davis Lyerly, Jacob Lyerly, Aviary Lyerly and our special piece of the family puzzle, Aidan Lyerly; sister, Rose Marie Goff McDonald; sisters-in-law, Linda (Johnny) Calcutt, and Miranda Johnson; numerous nieces and nephews
Mr. Lyerly was preceded in death by his brother, Jr. Lyerly; in-laws, Larry Goff, Randy Johnson, Therrell Poston and Catherine Poston and special friends he will be reunited with in heaven, McRoy Richardson and Butch Altman.
Funeral services will be 4:00 PM, Thursday, October 6, 2022 at Mill Branch Free Will Baptist Church, burial with Military Honors will follow at Poston Memorial Cemetery, Pamplico.
The family will receive friends 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at Carolina Funeral Home.
