Ronald William Smith, Sr.

Ronald William Smith, Sr., 70, of the Hebron community, husband of Patricia McMillan Chandler, died Tuesday, March 10, 2020, at McLeod Hospice House, Florence.

Mr. Smith was born on March 10, 1950 in Olanta, SC, son of Sara McElveen Smith and the late Robert William Smith. He was a graduate of Clemson University and a veteran of the US Air Force.  He owned GreenAcres Lawn Services for 25 years in Conway, SC. He loved his family, his pets and his farm.

Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Patricia McMillan Chandler of the Hebron Community; son, Ronald William "Smitty" Smith, Jr. and wife Jennifer Petroff Smith of Charleston; sisters, Connie (Ryon) Hukill of Plano, TX and Cheryl (Mike) Horton of Kingstree; brother-in-law, Mike (Terry) Chandler of Anderson; granddaughters, Alexa and Mallory Smith; his nieces and nephews and his special friend, Banks Rodgers Johnson.

In lieu of flowers, Pat and Smitty would like you to plant a shrub or flower, grow a tomato on your deck, or go all in with a small garden this summer. Ron loved his garden and would love for you to enjoy the same.

Memorial service will be 3:00 PM, Friday, March 13, 2020, at Carolina Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 PM, prior to the services at the funeral home.
