Reverend Joseph Edward Moore, 85, husband of Rev. Mrs. Stella B. Moore, died Friday, January 7, 2022, at McLeod Hospice House, Florence.
Rev. Moore was born on May 13, 1936, in Colleton County, son of the late Lawrence Olin Moore and Lucia Varn Moore. Rev. Moore served in the SC Army National Guard. He was licensed and ordained in the International Pentecostal Holiness Conference. Rev. Moore and his wife evangelized before serving in the following churches, Bethany PH Church, Shulerville, SC, Savannah Bluff PH Church, Conway, SC, Cordova PH Church, Cordova, NC and Scranton PH Church, Scranton, SC. After retiring from the PH Conference, Rev. and Mrs. Moore served briefly at Mels Chapel in Camden, SC before retiring and making their home in Scranton.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Rev. Mrs. Stella B. Moore of Scranton, are his daughters, Linda Jo (Donnie) Wright of St. George and Sandra M. (Franklin) Bennett of Cades; grandchildren, Kristi (Kenny) Hicks, Stella “Star” (Jack) Griffin and Jennifer (fiancé, Dane) Wright; step granddaughter, Evalyn Bennett; great grandchildren, Jacob and Jessica Hicks, Jaci , Dominic, Jackson and Perry Griffin and Madalyn Diehl; brothers, James (Merilee) Moore and Larry Moore; sister, Cindy (Kenny) Gibbons.
Rev. Moore was preceded in death by a grandson, Donald Joseph Wright; siblings, Helen Weatherford, Alice Barrineau, Russell Moore and Donnie Moore.
Funeral services will be 3:00 PM, Sunday, January 9, 2022, at Camp Branch Pentecostal Holiness Church, with burial to follow at Hicks Hill Cemetery, Scranton.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
