Pastor Wessie Gamble-Brown Obituary

Life Reflection

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course.  I have kept the faith. Henceforth, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day and not to me only but unto all them also that he love his appearing. II Timothy 4: 6-8

Pastor Wessie Lee Brayboy Gamble-Brown, the daughter of the late Vernell and Louise Brayboy, was born on March 25, 1937 in Lake City, South Carolina.  She departed this life on Friday, June 26, 2020, at MUSC in Florence.

Wessie Lee Brayboy Gamble-Brown was known as the sharecropper's daughter. She went on to raise four children and never lost the desire to continue learning. She received her GED, followed by an Associate's Degree in Applied Science from Manhattan Community College. She ultimately received her degree and license as a Registered Nurse in June of 1978.  She held many positions in her field of Nursing, including, but not limited to, Columbia Presbyterian Hospital and South Oaks Hospital in New York. She was also a Nurse in an administrative role at McLeod Hospital in Florence, South Carolina and she also founded and owned Genesis Adult Day Care in Lake City, South Carolina.  However, she did not just want to learn, she also wanted to become closer to Christ and began to study at the Bethel Bible Institute and graduated in May of 1987 and was authorized to preach the Gospel.

While praising and teaching the Word of God, she continued the good fight in the health care industry in New York.  Her faith guided her to continue to help those in need and provide comfort to their bodies and souls.  Pastor Gamble-Brown's love for the Lord was comparable to the love for her family.  So much so, that in 1991, she left the big city behind and returned home to Lake City, South Carolina to care for her mother, Louise. She preached and spread the Word of God Almighty in many different locations. However, she found her home and greatest accomplishment when she founded and became the Pastor of God's Key Ministry in October of 2004 through the divine Holy Spirit. On August 15, 2009, she married her partner in life and faith, Abraham Brown, Jr. Together they continued to devote their lives to the Lord and each other.

Pastor Wessie Lee Brayboy Gamble-Brown was preceded in meeting the Lord by her father, Vernell and mother, Louise, sister, Bobbie Jean Fulton; brother, McDaniel Brayboy; son, Woodrow Wilson Gamble, Jr.; and daughter, Linda Diane Griffin.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories by; husband, Abraham Brown, Jr.; brothers, Vernell Brayboy, Jr. and Joseph Brayboy; daughter, Barbara Rickoff; son, Harrylon Gamble and son “#2” Craig Fulton; son, Wayne Brown; daughters, Veronica Julius, Regina Williams and Lucretia Wright. Grandchildren; Sheri Saxton, Natasha Rickoff-Procida, Malika Harris Gamble, Tanya Coleman, Soroya Padilla, De’Andre Gamble, Nye’jill Gamble, Judi’ya Gamble, Renea Brown, Destiny Brown and Livia Brown. Great Grandchildren; Terry Saxton, William Padilla, III, Wilasia Padilla, Syre Padilla, Samaya Padilla, Miles Coleman, Gabriella Lee Procida and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends that will cherish her memory for eternity.

We can go on and on about her accomplishments, but the most important thing is that she is a child of the King. What we do for the Lord is what matters!

To Our Grandmother

If Roses Grow in Heaven

If roses grow in Heaven, Lord please pick a bunch for us,

Place them in our Grandmother’s arms and tell her they’re from us.

tell her we love her and miss her, and when she turns to smile,

Place a kiss upon her cheek and hold her for a while,

Because remembering you is easy, we do it every day,

But there’s an ache within our hearts that will never go away.

-Your Grandchildren
