Nettie Mae Floyd Powell, 94, of Cades, widow of the late Walter Edward Powell, died Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at her residence.
Mrs. Powell was born on June 10, 1928, in Williamsburg County, daughter of the late Dave Floyd and Amela Welch Floyd. She was a member of Cades Pentecostal Holiness Church and formally worked for Avondale. Mrs. Powell was a loving person, who always had time for others and adored her family. She loved bright colors, canning and her animals.
Surviving are her daughters, Bueline (Jimmy) Poston of Coward, Vela Mae Powell of Cades and Jane (Heyward) Watford of Lamar; son, Edward (Michele) Powell of Cades; 18 grandchildren; 1 step grandchild; several great grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; a special niece, Mae; former daughters-in-law, Tammy Driggers of Cades and Tina Scurry of Kingstree; sister, Eva Flowers of Cades.
Mrs. Powell was preceded in death by siblings, Tilman Floyd, MC Floyd, Sally McGee, Ella Parker, Idell Lamb, Leo Bryant and Gladys Anderson; daughter, Rosa Tedder; son, David Don Powell.
Funeral services will be 4:00 PM, Saturday, July 30, 2022 at Cades Pentecostal Holiness Church, with burial to follow at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, at the church.
