Mavis McKnight Obituary

Mavis Lowder McKnight, 85, wife of Odell McKnight, died Thursday, November 19, 2020, at McLeod Hospice House, Florence.

Mrs. McKnight was born July 14, 1935 in Florence County, daughter of the late Erby Smith Lowder and Mary Edna Langley Lowder. She was a member of Faith Holiness Church, she was an assistant Sunday school teacher, helped with vacation bible school, helped with the senior citizens and was a Woman of Faith. Mrs. McKnight retired from Baxter Travenol, Kingstree.

Surviving are her husband of 62 years, Mannie Odell McKnight; children, Mary Faith McKnight (Danny) Lussier, Mark Lowder (Tammy) McKnight and Sherry Maria (Zachary Howard) McKnight; siblings, Ned Lowder, Nancy (Richard) Norman, Cheryl (Richard) Cook, Kaye (Coley) Lee and Stephen Lowder; grandchildren, Mavilynn Michelle Howard, Chris (Kim) Weaver, Justin (Kristen) Weaver, Jessica (Craig) McKenzie, Chris Lussier, Kim Lussier, Ashley (Brandon) Hibbitts and Patrick (Alica) Miles; great grandchildren, Kirstin and her husband, Eddie, Hunner, Austin, Bryce, Peyton, Braylee, Remington, Damian, Laya, Lonah, Mason, Harley, Gransley, Elliemay, Adain, Liz, Addie, Kinley and Raegan; and one great-great grandchild, Colton; a number of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. McKnight was preceded in death by her daughters, Marsha Lynette McKnight and Myra Michelle McKnight Weaver and sister, Betty Lowder Burgess.

Funeral services will be 3:00 PM, Saturday, November 21, 2020, at Carolina Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow at Lake City Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 PM, Saturday, November 21, 2020, one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Faith Holiness Church, 153 West Camp Branch Road, Scranton, SC 29591 or you may send a potted plant In Memory of Mrs. Mavis for her love for plants.

Due to COVID-19, the family request for everyone to wear a mask and please maintain the 6 foot social distancing.  The family also request everyone to please refrain from hand shaking and hugging one another.
