Mary Ellen (McClam) Smith

Mary Ellen McClam Smith, 79, wife of the late Christopher Hugh Smith, died Wednesday, March 3, 2021, at her residence.

Mrs. Smith was born on April 19, 1941 in Lake City, daughter of the late Levi McClam and Lero Lee McClam. She was retired from Baxter Laboratories and was a charter member of Hebron Independent Church. Mrs. Smith enjoyed flowers and gardening.

Surviving are her daughter, Marianne S. (Landy) Thomas of Cades; grandson, Robbie (Wendy) Thomas; granddaughter, Amy Thomas; great grandchildren, Sarah Grace Thomas and Brenna Welch; and her pet and companion, Cash.

Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her son, Christopher Hugh "Chris" Smith; siblings, Evelyn M. Hildebrand, Jettie Cannon, Betty Mann, Mellie Christofi, Vickie Summers, Ruby Eaddy, L. J. McClam, Donald McClam and Lela Mae Metts.

Graveside services will be 2:00 PM, Friday, March 5, 2021, at Hebron Independent Church Cemetery, Cades.

Friends who wish to view and pay their respect may do so until noon Friday at the funeral home.
