Obituary

Margaret Carraway McAlister Lynch, 81, died Thursday, August 4, 2022 at McLeod Hospice House, Florence, surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Lynch was born on May 7, 1941, in Lake City, daughter of the late Luther Carraway and Emily Turner Carraway. She was raised on a farm in Evergreen and was a graduate of Pamplico High School. Mrs. Lynch loved cooking for her family and was known for her wonderful Sunday dinners. She was “Affectionally a Chauffeur” for all of her grandchildren. Mrs. Lynch had a green thumb and was an amazing gardener. She was the book keeper for Star New Home Tobacco Warehouse in Lake City, SC.

Surviving are her children, Jay McAlister of Lake City, Cliff (Shannon) McAlister of Columbia and Susan McAlister of Timmonsville; grandchildren, Caroline, Wayne, Ava, Emily and Hannah; siblings, Kay (Rick) Brown, Larry (Faye) Carraway, Dexter (Valerie) Carraway and Lennie (Don) Smith; she loved Billy’s children and grandchildren as her own.

Mrs. Lynch was preceded in death by her first husband, Carol R. McAlister; second husband, W.S. “Billy” Lynch, III; siblings, Agnes Carraway and Carolyn Carraway Turner.

Funeral services will be private.
