John Wright Floyd

Mr. John Wright Floyd, 72, of Coward, husband of the late Kathy Miles Floyd, passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at MUSC Health Florence Medical Center.

Mr. Floyd was born on March 11, 1954, in Florence County, son of Winright Floyd and Mae Dubose Floyd. John Wright Floyd lived a life marked by hard work, friendship, and faith. A graduate of J.C. Lynch High School in Coward, he later owned and operated J&J Pools before retiring. He was an avid golfer who treasured time spent on the course with friends. His family is deeply thankful for the many caring friends and neighbors who provided meals, checked on him, and lovingly helped meet his needs. Most importantly, they find comfort in the assurance John shared that he had accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior.

Surviving are his children, Tara Jane (Christopher) Snead of Florence and Spencer (Allison) Floyd of Murrells Inlet; grandchildren, Delaney Snead, Darby Snead, Lily Kate Floyd, Lane Floyd and Baker Floyd; siblings, David Floyd of Coward, Shirley F. Parker of New Zion and Iva Lee Parker of Charleston; along with other extended family members.

Mr. Floyd was preceded in death by siblings, Mary Ann McKnight, Julius Laverne “Mutt” Floyd, B.J. Floyd, Murrell Floyd, Garland Floyd, Basil Aiken, Opal McCutcheon and Mazine Floyd Lee.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM, Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at Carolina Funeral Home with funeral services to follow at 2:00 PM in the chapel.

A private burial will follow at Lake City Memorial Park.
