Jimmy Cooper of Cordesville, SC, died peacefully in his home on May 31, at the age of 86.
Born in Hannah, SC, on December 19, 1934, Jimmy was the youngest of eight children to C. C. and Annie Cooper. He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings.
He was an outdoors enthusiast who spent countless hours trailing woodland critters and luring the elusive bass. He liked to say “the woods and water are my church.”
In 1956 he married Betty Jean Stewart of Lake City, SC. They remained together until her death in 2016. He passed away on what would have been his and Betty’s 65th wedding anniversary.
He is survived by his son, Dr. Ron (Sandra) Cooper of Ocala, FL, and daughter, Dr. Darlene (Dean) Ishmael of Alvin, SC; grandchildren, Stetson Cooper, Levi Cooper, Grace Cooper, Carson (Hunter) Shepherd and Cameron West; great-grandchildren, Juliana and Colt Shepherd; and extended family Victoria (Zack) Weisinger and her children, Katherine and Kennedy.
Graveside services will be 4:00 PM, Wednesday, June 2, 2021, at New Prospect Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery, 4221 Sheminally Road, Pamplico, SC 29583.
