James "Bud" Carsten

James "Bud" Carsten, 78, husband of Wanda James Carsten, died Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at McLeod Hospice House, Florence.

Mr. Carsten was born on June 18, 1943 in Williamsburg County, son of the late James Christopher "Jimmy" Carsten and Ida Sauls Carsten. He was a 1963 graduate of Kingstree High School and a lifetime member of Cades United Methodist Church. Mr. Carsten was a retired self-employed landscaper and enjoyed gardening, golf and water skiing. He was an avid Gamecock and Dallas Cowboy's fan. Mr. Carsten was also a former youth baseball coach.

Surviving are his wife, Wanda Carsten of Cades; sons, Jamie (Miriam) Carsten of Florence and Kevin (Katie) Carsten of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Cameron Carsten, Landry Carsten, Greta Carsten and Henry Carsten; step grandchildren, Alex, Peyton and Ellie; and sister, Anne (Lynn) McClary of Cades; and a number of nieces and nephews.    

Mr. Carsten was preceded in death by his sister, Jerri McCutcheon.

Funeral services will be 4:00 PM, Sunday, July 25, 2021, at Cades United Methodist Church with burial to follow at Carsten-Sauls Cemetery, Cades.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Saturday, July 24, 2021, at Carolina Funeral Home, Scranton.
