James Wilson Carraway, 81, husband of Jeanette Floyd Carraway, died Wednesday, May 13, 2020, at McLeod Hospice House, Florence.
Mr. Carraway was born on February 19, 1939 in Coward, son of the late George N. Carraway, Sr. and Clara Bell Locklair Carraway. He served in the United States Air Force and was retired from Dupont in Florence. James was a charter member of The Bible Temple in Coward, but later attended the Baptist Temple in Florence. He was an avid antique and coin collector and seller for over 40 years. James enjoyed reading and studying his Bible. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and dedicated Christian. James and Jeanette were known for their handmade one of a kind Father Christmas'.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Jeanette Carraway of Coward; son, Jody (Tina) Carraway of Coward; daughter, Jena C. McCutcheon of Coward; grandchildren, Ryan Carraway and Candace McCutcheon; brothers, Steve Carraway of Florence and George "Billy" (Mary) Carraway of Coward; sister, Gladys (J. L.) Allen of Coward; sister-in-law, Shirley Carraway.
Mr. Carraway was preceded in death by a brother, Carl R. Carraway, Sr.; son-in-law, Donnie McCutcheon.
Due to COVID-19, graveside service will be private.
