Hollis Gaskins Kersey, 71, wife of the late John Robert Kersey, Sr, died Thursday, December 31, 2020, at her sister's home after an illness.
Mrs. Kersey was born June 17, 1949 in Florence County, daughter of the late Harry Kenneth "Kent" Gaskins and Jessie Lou White Gaskins. She was a member of Union Baptist Church and was a 1967 graduate of Hannah-Pamplico High School. Mrs. Kersey was in the 1st graduating Nursing Program at Francis Marion College and retired from Carolina Hospital System, where she was a Registered Nurse.
Surviving are her children, Robert (Dawn) Kersey and David (Mary) Kersey, both of Pamplico and Ronald (Tania) Deal of Kentucky; grandchildren, Pierce (Jessica) Turner, Morgan Turner, Addison Cox, Lane Cox, and John Rex Kersey, all of Pamplico; sisters, Faye B. Gaskins and Judy G. (David) Yannello, both of Pamplico; number of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Kersey was preceded in death by her brothers, Dale R. Gaskins and Rick T. Gaskins.
The family would like to extend a special "Thanks" to Amedisys Hospice for their care and concern for Mrs. Kersey and her family.
Due to COVID-19, the family request for everyone to wear a mask and please maintain the 6 foot social distancing. The family also request everyone to please refrain from hand shaking and hugging one another.
Funeral services will be 4:00 PM, Sunday, January 3, 2021 at Union Baptist Church, Pamplico. Burial, directed by Carolina Funeral Home will follow at Gaskins Cemetery, Pamplico.
Viewing will be one hour prior to service at the church.
