Gerald Ray Ard

Mr. Gerald Ray Ard, 75, of Coward, husband of Linda Benton Ard, passed away Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at McLeod Hospice House.

Mr. Ard was born on December 19, 1947, in Florence County, son of the late Richard Ard and Billie Lane Ard. He was a member of Tabernacle Free Will Baptist Church and Gold Wing Road Riders Association. Prior to retirement Mr. Ard operated his own paint and body business and formerly worked with Mack Trucks of Florence. He lived his life helping others, this extended to all his friends, especially his motorcycle family and church family. Mr. Ard was very loved and gave the same love in return. He will be missed greatly by all his family and friends.

Surviving in addition to the love of his life, Linda Benton Ard of Coward, are his daughter, Karen Lee Leonard of Summerton, SC; granddaughter, Courney Ruth Leonard of Charleston; grandchildren, Matthew Lee of Florence, Lauren Ard McCants of Georgetown, Brandon Ard of Cades, Andrew Duke and Cameron Duke, both of Coward; extended Benton family, Richard (Annette) Benton, Myra Benton (Roger) Bazen, and Joel (Bebe) Benton; he also loved the baby’s baby, Allison Collins Munn and her family, along with the rest of his nieces and nephews.

Mr. Ard was preceded in death by his son, Richard Todd Ard and 2 siblings.

A graveside service will be 11:00 AM, Friday, September 8, 2023, at St. Paul United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
