Mrs. Dorothy Nell Welch Bennett, 87, widow of the late William Levone Bennett, died Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at her home in Turbeville.
Mrs. Dorothy Nell was born June 1, 1934, in Clarendon County, daughter of the late J. Hugh Welch and Effie Viola Welch. She was a member of Faith Holiness Church, where she was the pianist for many years. Mrs. Bennett was one of the original members of the singing Welch Family. She loved animals, loved to work in her garden, and plant flowers. Dorothy Nell was a humble Christian with strong faith and she loved her family.
Surviving include her children, Bebe Bennett (Allen Sivertsen), William L. (Teresa) Bennett, Jr., and Charles “Rod” (Connie) Bennett, all of Turbeville; sisters, Diane Welch Beard, Rounett Welch (Lloyd) McElveen and Connie Welch (Carroll) Feagin, all from Turbeville, Violeta Welch (Buddy) Yarborough of Effingham and Ethel Dell Welch Calcutt of Florida; sister-in-law, Nettie Spring Welch of Lake City; brothers, Clifton (Diane) Welch of Turbeville and A.J. Welch of Scranton; 10 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; number of nephews and nieces.
Mrs. Bennett was preceded in death by her siblings, Lou Dell Welch Bennett, Idella Welch Matthews, CG Welch and Calvin Welch.
Funeral services will be 3:00 PM, Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at Maranatha Pentecostal Holiness Church, with burial to follow at Pine Dale Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends, 2:00 – 3:00 PM, Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at Maranatha Pentecostal Holiness Church.
