Diane (Floyd) Rodgers

Mrs. Diane Floyd Rodgers, 86, wife of the late Johnnie David Rodgers, Sr., died Saturday, September 3, 2022, at her home in Scranton, surrounded by her loved ones.

Mrs. Rodgers was born on February 11, 1936, in Florence County, a daughter of the late Shady Roscoe Floyd and Lizzie Flowers Floyd. She was a member of New Zion Baptist Church for 68 years and served as a director in many capacities, especially with the youth.  Diane was the owner of Diane’s Beauty Shop for over 30 years.  Diane owned Nell’s Florist & Gifts and was the activity director for The Carolinian of Florence. She was a Godly woman, and friend to many; enjoyed family reunions, gardening, cooking and entertaining for family and friends. She will be remembered as a true Southern Belle.

Surviving are her two sons, Johnnie D. (Diane) Rodgers, Jr. of Kingstree and Lonnie W. (Belinda) Rodgers of Scranton; daughter, Tammy (Billy) Rodgers Mitchell of Scranton; grandchildren, John (Kristin) Rodgers of Pamplico, Jason (Angie) Rodgers of Florence, Jeanna (Josh Weatherford) Rodgers of Pamplico, Will Rodgers of Lake City, Shady (Cassie) Rodgers of Olanta, Tripp Mitchell of Scranton, Rodgers Mitchell of Scranton and Jason (Emma) Wheeler of Pawleys Island; 10 great grandchildren; sister, Martha Gaskin of Columbia; many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mrs. Rodgers was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Floyd; sisters, Mildred McKenzie and Betty Eskridge.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at New Zion Baptist Church, Lake City, with burial to follow at the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at Carolina Funeral Home, Scranton.
