Mr. Charles Wayne Alexander, 78, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at his home on Sunday, January 10, 2021, after an extended illness.
Born in Florence County, he was a son of the late Lurie Alexander and Bertie Flowers Alexander. Mr. Alexander was employed by C. B. Askins and Company and Carolina Prestress for over 58 years. As a second-generation member of the founding family of Friendfield Pentecostal Holiness Church, Mr. Alexander served as a Deacon of the church for over 40 years. He also served as a Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, and Secretary of the Men’s Fellowship.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Jean Evans Alexander; two sons, Gregory Alexander (T.D.) of Olanta and Rodney Alexander (Dawn) of Friendfield; a daughter, Stacia Atkinson of Friendfield; 9 grandchildren (Brittney Kennedy, Christian Atkinson, Marshall Alexander, Preston Alexander, Brooke White (Hunter), Stanton Alexander, Victoria Lawhon, Destinee Alexander, K.J. Lawhon) and 5 great-grandchildren (Daeton Jones, Nirvana Skye Atkinson, Anthony Poston, Colton White); 3 brothers (Lurie Alexander Jr., Rev. John Alexander, Rev. Nelson Alexander) and 2 sisters (Mary Plass and Linda Poston.)
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Friendfield Pentecostal Holiness Church building fund, 2019 South Friendfield Road, Scranton, SC 2959, are requested.
