Carlton L. Brown, Sr.

Mr. Carlton L. Brown, Sr., 82, husband of Mary Etta Brown, died Thursday, June 16, 2022 at MUSC Health Florence Medical Center after an illness.

Mr. Brown was born on August 22, 1939, in Florence County, son of the late Carlton Thomas Brown and Etha Lee Baxley Brown. He was a member of Cameron United Methodist Church and served in the National Guard. Mr. Brown retired from Westvaco Paper Company after 40 plus years, was retired owner of Brown’s Tree Service in Charleston and owner of Brown’s Lock & Key Service with his partner and coworker, grandson, Matthew Brown.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 62 years, Mary Etta Cockfield Brown; children, Carlton Brown, Jr and Phyllis Kay Brown; grandchildren, Kathleen, Matthew, Ryan and Stephen; 5 great grandchildren and will be missed by his fur babies and meal buddies, Precious, Moo & Scooter.

Service will be private.
