Annie Laurie (Kennedy) Duke

Mrs. Annie Laurie Kennedy Duke, 89, widow of James Carnell Duke, passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at her home in Lake City.  

Mrs. Duke was born on May 5, 1934, in Florence County, daughter of the late Leon Kennedy and Maybelle Evans Kennedy. She was a member of Manoah Independent Methodist Church and retired from Baxter after 20 years. Mrs. Duke enjoyed going to the many “Baxter family meal” get togethers, reading her bible, daily devotionals, cooking, watching TV, going to church and attending Missionary meetings. She really loved the mountains, Christmas time, looking at the Christmas lights and keeping all her Christmas cards was one of her many treasured memories.

Surviving are her son, Don Duke of Lake City; daughter, Kay (Johnny) Kinder of Cades; grandson, Jason (Audrey) Kinder of Salters; sister, Ruby Finch of Wilmington, NC.

Mrs. Duke was preceded in death by siblings, Vera Collins, Clara Earp, G.W. Kennedy, Walter Kennedy, Junior Kennedy and Clifton Kennedy.

Graveside services will be 2:00 PM, Friday, May 19, 2023, at Lake City Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 1:45 PM, Friday, May 19, 2023, at Carolina Funeral Home.
