Ann (Wise) McKnight

Mrs. Ann Wise McKnight, 84,  wife of the late James Robert McKnight, passed away Thursday, November 16, 2023, at Heritage Home of Florence.

Mrs. McKnight  was born on October 13, 1939, in Florence County, daughter of the late Morris LeRoy Wise, Sr. and Sadie Rae Hayes Wise. She was a 1959 graduate of Hannah High School and a member of the Beta Club.  Mrs. McKnight  was a member of New Zion Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School Teacher and Children’s Church Leader.  She worked on the family farm and was a former teacher assistant at Florence School District 3. Mrs. McKnight loved God, loved telling everyone about God and loved helping everyone.  She was a loving Wife, MaMa and MeMe.

Surviving are her children, Teresa Matthews (Mike) Hawkins of Scranton/Bishopville and Timmy (Heather Lee) Matthews of Scranton; grandchildren, Mike (Tiffany) Eaddy, Kathryn (Brandon) McElveen, John Matthews and Ashlee Matthews, all of Scranton; great grandchildren, Tabitha Eaddy, Pyper Eaddy, Paris Eaddy, Waylon McElveen and Everley McElveen, all of Scranton.

Mrs. McKnight was preceded in death by her first husband, Rudolph Gelland Matthews; siblings, Morris LeRoy “M.L.” Wise, Jr. and Shelby Jean Morris.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Monday, November 20, 2023, at New Zion Baptist Church, Lake City, with burial to follow at the Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 - 6:00 PM, Sunday, November 19, 2023, at Carolina Funeral Home, 215 East Hwy 378, Bypass, Scranton, SC 29591 and other times at the home of her son, Timmy Matthews, 2620 West Old #4 Hwy, Scranton, SC 29591.

The family would like to send a special “Thank You” to Sabrina Singletary, all McLeod Hospice nurses and all nurses and CNA’s at Heritage Home.
