Allison Dawn McElveen

Allison Dawn McElveen, 46, passed away Thursday, January 19, 2023, at MUSC Medical Center of Charleston, surrounded by her family.

Allison was born on August 28, 1976, in Florence, daughter of Norman L. McElveen and Elaine Matthews McElveen.  She was a graduate of Lake City High School, earned her Bachelor’s degree in Art Education from Francis Marion University and her Master’s degree in Technology from Lesley University. She was in her 23rd year as art teacher at Hannah-Pamplico Elementary Middle School in Florence School District 2. Allison enjoyed her time as a member of Kappa Delta Sorority at FMU and continued to support it after graduation. She was a member of Scranton Baptist Church. Allison enjoyed all things Disney, Art, Alice in Wonderland, and TOMS shoes.

Surviving are her parents, Norman L. “Coach Mac” McElveen and Elaine M. McElveen of Coward; sister, Amy M. (H. Legrande) Richardson of Coward; nephews, Whit and Matthew Richardson; a number of aunts, uncles, cousins and very special friends.

Funeral services will be 3:00 PM, Sunday, January 22, 2023, at Scranton Baptist Church, with private burial to follow.

The family will receive friends 5:00 - 7:00 PM, Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Carolina Funeral Home Chapel.
