William Player Holland, 30, passed away Monday, October 9, 2017, in West Columbia.

Player was born on February 11, 1987 in Florence, son of William L. "Bill" Holland and Sheron Player Holland. He was a member of The Lake City First Baptist Church and an Eagle Scout.  Player was a 2005 graduate of The Carolina Academy and a 2009 graduate of The Citadel, where he was a part of F Troop Company, a Summerall Guard and was a Life Member of The Citadel Alumni Association.  He was a sales representative for CrossLink Orthopaedics/Stryker.  Player was truly a joy to this world and a friend to everyone he met.  His radiant smile, laughter, and personality could light up any room.  Everyone who met Player never forgot him.   Player Boy had a band of friends everywhere he went, from childhood friends, which include his teammates in sports, as well as all his hunting and fishing buddies, to his band of brothers at The Citadel, to his host of friends in Greenville and Columbia.  Player loved music, singing and playing the guitar, and had a passion for the outdoors, but nothing was more important to him than God, his family, friends, and "Clemson Football".

Surviving are his parents, Bill and Sheron Holland of Scranton; sister, Tara (Allen) Steele of Darlington; nephew, Caden Steele and niece, Emma Sayge Steele, both of Darlington; Aunt Linda (Frank) Clum of Florence; cousins, Lee (Melissa) Daugherty of Florence and Allan (Caroline) Clum of James Island.

Player is also survived by his High Hill Community family, his Church family, The Carolina Academy family, The Citadel family, the "Boys", The Johnson Family along with his friends from Greenville and everyone who knew and loved Player.

Player was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Ray Player and Vonnie Powell Player; paternal grandparents, William L. Holland and Uldine Jenkinson Holland; and a nephew, Franklin Steele.
