Owen Fred Gaskins

Owen Fred Gaskins, 91, of 1624 McCutcheon Rd, Lake City, SC, passed away Sunday, September 17, 2017, two days prior to his 92nd birthday, at Commander Nursing Center, Florence.

Funeral services will be 12:00 Noon, Wednesday, September 20, 2017, at Carolina Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Lake City Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services beginning at 11:00 am

Mr. Gaskins was born on September 19, 1925 in Florence County, son of the late Wade Conyers Gaskins and Sally Rodgers Gaskins.  He was a graduate of Indiantown High School and was a faithful life member of Paran Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. Mr. Gaskins was the longtime owner of Gaskins Grocery and BBQ and later he served as a Rural Mail Carrier. He was a member of The Gideon's International and Woodmen of the World.  Mr. Gaskins was first married to the late Lillie White Gaskins.

Surviving are his wife, Devonne Teal Gaskins of Lake City; children, Evelyn Reynolds of Lugoff, Ron (Diane) Gaskins of Surfside Beach and Anita (Rip) Linder of Columbia; grandchildren, Will Reynolds, Marc (Jess) Gaskins, Clint (Kristen) Gaskins, Ley Linder, Liz Linder and Lucas Gaskins; and a great-grandchild, Marley Gaskins.

Mr. Gaskins was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
