Nancy Gaskins Floyd, 84, wife of James Wesley Floyd, Jr., died Sunday, September 23, 2018, at her daughter's home, after an illness.
Celebration of Life service will be 3:00 PM, Thursday, September 27, 2018, at Lake City United Methodist Church.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall and other times at the home of Wayne and Sarah Helen Mishoe, 1995 Green Road, Lake City, SC.
Mrs. Floyd was born on September 9, 1934, in Spartanburg, SC, daughter of the late Lee Oliver Gaskins, Sr. and Sarah Cudd Gaskins. Nancy married Wesley in 1954 and they made their home in Lake City the next 64 years. She was active in her church and community in many various capacities. She taught school for 23 years. She was a mentor, true family matriarch, spreader of love and gatherer of souls. She opened the doors to her homes and always made space in her heart for every human that came into her life. She had a magical way of bringing everyone together and ensuring that everyone was organized, fed, sheltered, entertained and most importantly loved unconditionally. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew her and loved her.
Surviving are her husband, James Wesley Floyd, Jr. of Lake City; daughter, Sarah Helen F. (Wayne) Mishoe of Lake City; son, J. Wes (Denise) Floyd, III of Charleston; grandchildren, Elizabeth Mishoe (Kent) Gamble, Christopher (Tia) Mishoe, Wes Floyd, IV and Dewitt Floyd; great grandchildren, Maecy Gamble and Henry Gamble; brothers, Lee Oliver (Trisha) Gaskins, Jr. and Dean Gaskins, both of Pauline; sisters, Sallie Gaskins (Guerry) Burnett of Greenville and Bitsy Gaskins (David) Barkley of Clemson; sisters-in-law, Susie (Heyward) King of Lake City and Mary Joy (Farrell) Lindley of Johnsonville; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Mrs. Floyd was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Larkin Gaskins.
