Myrtle (Caulder) Howard

Myrtle C. Howard, 89, wife of Gary Howard, died Tuesday, February 6, 2018, at McLeod Hospice House, Florence.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Friday, February 9, 2018, at Carolina Funeral Home Chapel, Scranton, with burial to follow at Lake City Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM, prior to the services at the funeral home.

Mrs. Howard was born on September 28, 1928 in Florence County, daughter of the late Vonzo Caulder and Laura Smith Caulder.  She worked at Wentworth Manufacturing Company of Lake City for many years, then later retired from Leggs of Florence. Mrs. Howard enjoyed traveling with her family and was an avid flower gardener and bird watcher.  

Surviving are her husband, Gary Howard of Effingham; children, Buddy (Bobbie Ann) Daniels and John Lewis (Brenda) Daniels, both of Scranton and  Deborah Filyaw of Coward; stepchildren, Louise (Jim) Poston, Roland (Teresa) Howard and Gail Hyman, all of Scranton and Leon (Elaine) Howard of Lake City;  numerous grandchildren; and great grandchildren. 

Mrs. Howard was preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Louise Daniels; and siblings, Roy Caulder, Leo Caulder and Louise Cockfield.
