Mary Lou Young Stewart, 71, wife of the late Otis Ozelle Stewart, died Saturday, January 20, 2018, at McLeod Regional Medical Center, after an illness.
Funeral services will be 3:00 PM, Monday, January 22, 2018, at Carolina Funeral Home Chapel, Scranton, with burial to follow at Thomas Cemetery, Olanta.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 PM, Monday, January 22, 2018, prior to the funeral services.
Mrs. Stewart was born on August 10, 1946, in Florence County, daughter of the late Norman McLeod Young and Cecile Coker Young. She was a graduate of Lake City High School and retired from Lake City Community Hospital, after over 30 years of service. Mrs. Stewart was a member of Emmanuel Pentecostal Holiness Church, where she formerly served as a musician.
Surviving are her son, Otis McLeod "Mackie" (Tiffany) Stewart of Florence; daughters, Sandra Kaye (Jay) McElveen of Sumter, Sharon Marie Stewart of Dalzell, Sheila Renee Stewart of Myrtle Beach; grandchildren, Grayson Stewart, Magen, Jamie and Logan McElveen, Tyler and Sheena Lee and Yasmen Nelson; sister, Norma Y. (Buck) Cockfield; brother, James Young; extended family members and a beloved pet, Lady.
Mrs. Stewart was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Young.
