Mr. Larry D. Lee, 73, husband of Gloria Lynch Lee, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Saturday, March 3, 2018, at McLeod Regional Medical Center, after a short illness.
Funeral services will be noon, Wednesday, March 7, 2018, at Carolina Funeral Home Chapel, Scranton, with visitation from 11:00 – 12:00, prior to the services. Burial, will follow at Lake City Memorial Park.
Larry was born on August 20, 1944, in Scranton, a cherished son of the late Gary B. Lee, Jr. and Letha Welch Lee. He was a graduate of J.C. Lynch High School and served in the Army National Guard, where he received an honorable discharge for services to his country. After 22 years of working at Williams Furniture of Sumter, SC, as Division Plant Manager, he began and continued a career in the timber business for over 30 years.
He passionately enjoyed outdoor activities with his children, grandchildren, sons-in-law and brother, such as working in his yard, farming, gardening, caring for, and raising multiple types of livestock and fowl.
Larry was a devoted, lifetime member of Lee's Tabernacle Church, where he served as Chairman of the Deacon Board, as well as Praise and Worship Leader for many years. He was also a former Young Adult Sunday School Teacher, member of Lee's Tabernacle Trio and continued his love of worship through singing with his daughters, Stephanie and Wendy and his brother, Bakey.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Gloria Lynch Lee, their two daughters, Stephanie Lee (Kevin) Patrick and Wendy Lee (Tommy) Welch, both of Scranton; seven grandchildren, Katherine Patrick, Savannah Patrick, Karsten Patrick, Aubriana Welch, Clayburn Welch, Emma-Ryann Welch and Connor Tucker. He is also survived by one brother, James "Bakey" (Debbie) Lee of Shiloh Community; two sisters, Marilyn (Michael) Lesco and Cathy Evans, both of Florence.
He will lovingly be remembered by his friends, family and community for his relationship with Christ, his anointed gift of singing, his keen and witty sense of humor, dependability, love of conversation and for being an affectionate and loving husband, daddy, papa and brother.
