Joseph "Joe" Wright Harper

Joseph "Joe" Wright Harper, 81, husband of Mildred Altman Harper, died Monday, August 13, 2018, at his residence.

Funeral services will be 5:00 PM, Wednesday, August 15, 2018, at Carolina Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow at Matthews Cemetery, Coward.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 – 5:00 PM, Wednesday, August 15, 2018, prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Harper was born on September 16, 1936 in Florence, son of the late Freland Harper and Victoria Kirby Harper.  He was a NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt, Sr. fan who also enjoyed racing dirt and asphalt tracks. Mr. Harper was a retired farmer and devoted husband, father and grandfather.

Surviving are his wife, Mildred Altman Harper of Coward; children, Robbie Harper of Florence, Tammy (Stanley) Shady of Coward and Kent (Shannon) Harper of Scranton; grandchildren, Joseph Wright Harper, III, Mary Elizabeth Schilling, Dustin Shady, Dawson Harper, Brittany Stone, Destiny Hicks and Brooklen Hicks; and great grandchildren, Katie, Ethan, Emerson, Daisy, Riley, Landon and Zaylon.  

Mr. Harper was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Wright "Joey" Harper, Jr.; brothers, Johnny Lee and W. C.; sisters, Carolyn, Annie Mae and Shirley.
