Mr. John Leon Filyaw, 87, husband of the late Gloris Mae Matthews Filyaw, died Tuesday, February 13, 2018, at his residence.
Mr. Filyaw was born on September 7, 1930 in Johnsonville, SC, son of the late John William Filyaw and Lucille Cameron Filyaw. He was a member of Prospect Pentecostal Holiness Church and retired from Wellman.
Surviving are his sons, Cleveland (Connie) Filyaw and Palmer (Eileen) Filyaw, both of Johnsonville; sisters, Fannie Nichols of Browns Ferry, Judy (Herman) Parker of Hemingway and Jettie Rawls of Johnsonville; brothers, Thomas (Mary) Filyaw of Johnsonville and Bobby (Wanda) Filyaw, of Hemingway; twelve grandchildren; twenty four great grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren and daughter-in-law, Donna Filyaw of Pawleys Island.
Mr. Filyaw was preceded in death by his sons, Allen Filyaw and Ronnie Filyaw; grandson, Shannon Filyaw; great grandson, Larry Filyaw; brothers, Clifford Filyaw and Jack Filyaw; and sisters, Sadie Filyaw Matthews and Nellie Filyaw Bell.
Funeral services will be 3:00 PM, Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Carolina Funeral Home Chapel, Scranton, with burial to follow at Lake Chapel Cemetery, Johnsonville.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 PM, Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Carolina Funeral Home, Scranton.
