"The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want." (Psalm 23:1) "Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. (Psalm 23:6)
On April 28, 2018, I heard the master call me home. "Geneva Witherspoon Washington: and I replied, Hush, Hush, somebody's calling my name." In his divine and glorious name, I answered his call. I have been extremely blessed to have been in God's care for 92 years. I was born on December 24, 1925, to Ervin and Marion Witherspoon and now I am the last of their children to go home to be with the Lord.
Preceding me in death are my eight brothers, Woodrow, Blease, Dozier, Richard, Silas, Paul, Samuel and Chavis; and two sisters, Emma Witherspoon and Eugenia Frierson. I also have a son, Silas Edmond Washington and my husband, Edmond Washington that preceded me in death.
I leave to cherish my unforgettable memories my faithful son, Randolph Washington who has always been there for me throughout my illness and stay at the Ron McNair Nursing Home; to my beautiful daughter and baby girl, Donna Ann Washington, I love you unconditionally and I take that love with me. Remember to hold onto God's unchanging hand. To my loving grandchildren, Damian, Xavier, Rasheen, Nikki, Oneka and my seven great grandchildren, I love you and want you to receive all that God has for you. Miss me, but let me go; and a host of nieces and nephews.
I began my walk with God at a very early age and he always stood by my side and has never forsaken me. I was affiliated with Nettie's Temple Holiness Church and Deep River Holiness Church.
If you will excuse me, I have to try on my long white robe and my angel wings, Good night, Good night, Good night!
