Mr. Garlyn Bazen, 78, husband of Saundra Matthews Bazen, died Wednesday, October 3, 2018, at his residence after an illness.
Mr. Bazen was born on April 18, 1940 in Florence County, son of the late Gorie Liston Bazen and Lizzie Day Altman Bazen. He was a graduate of Kingstree High School and attended Williamsburg Technical College. Mr. Bazen was a member of New Prospect Free Will Baptist Church, Deacon and bus driver for the New Prospect Mustang Athletics.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Saundra Matthews Bazen of Pamplico; daughters, Salyn B. Timmons and Gina I. Bazen, both of Pamplico; sisters, Renell T. (Cecil) Hanna of Johnsonville and Debra L. Bazen of Pamplico; brothers, Jimmy Bazen and Barry (June) Bazen, both of Pamplico; granddaughter, Leslie T. (Garrett) Mann; grandson, Justin A. (Jessica) Timmons; great grandsons, Graylen and Myles Mann; great granddaughters, Jayla Harrison, Avery Timmons and Brynn Timmons.
Mr. Bazen was preceded in death by a sister, Eunia Bell Gaskins.
A Celebration of Life will be 7:00 PM, Friday, October 5, 2018 at New Prospect Free Will Baptist Church, Pamplico. Burial will be private at Bazen Family Cemetery, Pamplico, directed by Carolina Funeral Home, Scranton.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.
