Elizabeth Lucille Alexander Rodgers, 81, wife of the late John Benson Rodgers, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at her home, surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Rodgers was born on August 1, 1937 in Friendfield Community, daughter of the late Beaty Alexander and Estelle Curry Alexander. She was a graduate of Hannah High School and was a long time member of Paran Baptist Church where she formerly served as Sunday School teacher and choir member. Mrs. Rodgers was an auto underwriter with Epps McLendon Insurance for many years and later retired from the Johnsonville Post Office. She was active at the Lake City Senior Citizens Center where she especially enjoyed the art classes. Mrs. Rodgers was dedicated to her church, her love for God and her family.
Surviving are her sons, John Benson "Johnny" Rodgers, Jr., Clifton Rodgers and David (Kaye) Rodgers, all of Lake City; daughter, Susan Rodgers White of Pamplico; grandchildren, Denise Rodgers, James McCoy, Caroline McCoy, Erin Elmore, Mary (Adam) McClam, Karly Rodgers, Phillip Rodgers, Kellie (Brian) Douglas and John Barrett White; great-grandchildren, Deacon, Ava, Sawyer, Autumn, Reese, Lucille and Benson; brothers, Joe Alexander and Len (Roberta) Alexander, both of Scranton.
Mrs. Rodgers was preceded in death by an infant granddaughter, Valerie Rodgers; brother, Clyde Alexander; and sisters, Ruth A. Davis, Jessie A. Prosser and Vera A. Dempsey.
Funeral services will be 3:00 PM, Saturday, March 9, 2019, at Carolina Funeral Home Chapel, Scranton, with burial to follow at Lake City Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 PM, Saturday, March 9, 2019, prior to the services at the funeral home.
