Eldera Pate McGee, 87, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 10, 2019, at the Heritage Home in Florence, after an extended illness.
Graveside services will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, March 12, 2019, at Coward Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the services.
Mrs. Eldera was born in Florence County, on September 2, 1931, daughter of the late James Lewis "Jim" Pate and Ida McAllister Pate. She was married to the late Charles Lamar McGee for 61 years, prior to his death in 2010. Mrs. Eldera was a housewife and longtime member of the Coward Pentecostal Holiness Church, where she served as the church pianist for over 50 years. She was a quiet, southern lady, who enjoyed the simple things in life, like singing in church and spending time with her family. Mrs. Eldera was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister.
Surviving are her daughter, Martha M. Boswell and her husband, Jody, of Lake City; granddaughters, Mary Grace Mungo and her husband, Matt, of Columbia and Sarah Holmes and her husband, Michael, of Spartanburg; great grandchildren, Martha Ann "Mae" Holmes, Stewart Mungo and Wells Mungo; sisters, Evelee Prosser of Florence and Annie Bell Langston of Coward.
Mrs. Eldera was preceded in death by brothers, Reverend Luria Pate, Marion Pate, Jack W. "Buddy" Pate; sisters, Marguerite Thompkins, Rosa Lee Miles and Rutina Powell.
