Clinton Legrand Gaskins

Mr. Clinton Legrand Gaskins, 78, died Sunday, December 10, 2017, at the McLeod Hospice House, Florence, after an illness.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Wednesday, December 13, 2017, at Carolina Funeral Home, Scranton. Burial, with full Military Honors, will follow at EV Gaskins Cemetery, Lake City.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM, Wednesday, December 13, 2017, at the funeral home prior to the service.

Clinton was born on October 7, 1939, in Florence County, son of the late Clinton Joseph Gaskins and Martha Turner Gaskins. He was a graduate of Bolton High School in Louisiana and served in the U.S. Air Force for 23 years. After retiring from the military, he worked for the City of Lake City as a mechanic in the Maintenance Department for 18 years.  His hobbies included drag racing. He was first married to the late Carol Jean Long Gaskins and then to the late Linda Dell Chattman Gaskins.

Surviving are his children, Terrie Gaskins, Tony (Becky) Gaskins step-daughters, Lisa (Dwight) Davis, Tammy (Ronnie Ard) Christian and Angela Hatzenbuhler; 13 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; brother, Clinton Joseph (Audrey) Gaskins Jr., and his "furry" companion, "Tiny" Gaskins.

Clinton was preceded in death by his brothers, Harry Gaskins, Mitchell Gaskins, Robert Mayford Gaskins, Von Gaskins, Murdock "Doc" Gaskins, step-children, Darlene Lee and Elwood L. Forry.
