Clara W. Smith, 79, died at her residence surrounded by her family, Saturday, June 9, 2018.
Mrs. Smith was born on May 25, 1939 in Florence County, daughter of the late Thomas P. James and Estelle Evans James. She was a loving minister's wife and a member of Bible Outreach Church, where she served in many capacities, such as Sunday school teacher and ladies ministry. Mrs. Smith was the retired owner of Smith Bay Clothing. She was devoted to serving God, family and others.
Surviving are her daughter, Alice (Doug) Robinson of Turbeville and Dana W. (Chris Tisdale) Lewis of Coward; son, Howard K. (Pam) Smith of Coward; grandchildren, Leah (Timothy) Reese, Crystal (Jason) Harris, Amanda (Jared) Cook, Christopher (Ashley) Hill, Catherine (Caleb Hutchinson) Smith, Julia Ann (Jim) Kennedy, Allison (Justin) Muller and Mary Ashley Robinson; five great grandchildren; sisters, Voncille Foxworth and Janice (Tommy) Floyd; and brother, Delano James.
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husbands, Ernest L. White, and Reverend Laverne Benjamin Smith; and brothers, George H. James and Dexter Lawayne James.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Monday, June 11, 2018, at Bible Outreach Church, with burial to follow at Friendfield Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Sunday, June 10, 2018, at Carolina Funeral Home, Scranton.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nurses of Amedisys Hospice and Bobby "Skeet" Fulghum. They would also like to thank special sitter, Frances Foxworth and special niece, Maria James.
