Charles Middleton Kelley, 87, passed away, Monday, January 14, 2019 at McLeod Hospice House after a lengthy illness.
He was born November 25, 1931 in Lake City, son of the late L.W. Kelley and Eugenia Wells Kelley. He was a member of the Lake City United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Mary S. Kelley; his son, Charles M. Kelley, Jr. (Chuck) (Alexandra) of Jacksonville, FL; daughters, Grace Kelley (Richard) of Pawleys Island, SC; and Kim Osborne (Will) of Florence, SC. Six Grandchildren: Callahan and Kendall Heidt, Sydney and Stone Osborne, Kelley Grace Kerr, and Charlie Kelley.
He is predeceased by a daughter, Kaye Heidt; a brother, Gene Kelley; a half-brother, Wendell Kelley; and a half-sister, Bonnie Heacox.
Funeral services will be Thursday, January 17, 2019, at the Lake City United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM at the Church Fellowship Hall. Memorial service will follow at 1:00 PM, in the church sanctuary.
Mr. Kelley graduated from Clemson University in 1958 after serving four years in the US Navy. He was a past owner/president of Smith Fuel Company. Previous to this, he was an agricultural chemical salesman for FMC Corporation for many years.
He was a member of the Lake City Rotary Club, LaBalancez Dance Club, Three Rivers Historical Society and Lynches Lake Historical Society. He loved history and genealogy, but most of all he loved his wife, family and church. Charles enjoyed fishing, gardening, dancing, playing bridge, and traveling.
