Mr. Bill Monroe Altman, Sr., 70, died Thursday, November 23, 2017, at McLeod Regional Medical Center after an illness.
Mr. Altman was born April 9, 1947, in Florence County, son of the late Matthew Altman and Eulee Nettles Altman. He was a member of Little Bethel Free Will Baptist Church and was a self-employed carpenter. Mr. Altman was a veteran of the U.S Army, having served in the Vietnam War and received the Bronze Star, Medal of Conduct and Combat Infantry Badge.
Surviving includes his daughter, Sherrine Altman of Johnsonville; grandchildren, Sherry Maria McKnight of Coward and Madison Fennell of Hemingway; sister, Shirley Altman McDaniel of Johnsonville; nephews, Joey (Shawn) McDaniel of Lake City, Wayne (Tammy) Altman of Johnsonville; niece, Charlene (Joey) Davis of Hemingway and Suzette (Chris) Fennell of Pamplico; aunts, Drue McCrea of Kingstree, Hannah (Al) Erwin of Florence, Dorothy (Ray) Hucks of Johnsonville, Evelyn Owens of Pleasant Hill, and Ever Lou Altman of Johnsonville; special friends, Earl & Mary Wise, Julie Ard, and Haskell & Mitsi.
Mr. Altman was predeceased by a son, Will Altman; brother, C.J. "Dunk" Altman; and brother-in-law, Raleigh Joe McDaniel.
Funeral services will be 3:00 PM, Sunday, November 26, 2017, at Carolina Funeral Home Chapel, Scranton. Burial, with Military Honors, will follow at Eaddy-Ford Cemetery, Johnsonville.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 PM, Sunday, November 26, 2017, at Carolina Funeral Home, Scranton.
