Benjamin S. Strickland, 69, husband of Miriam F. Strickland, passed away Tuesday, September 12, 2017, in the comfort of his home.
Mr. Strickland was born in Florence County on June 27, 1948, son of the late Manning Jesse Strickland and Leano Hall Strickland. Mr. Strickland was a graduate of Lake City High School and a Veteran of the United States Army, serving in Vietnam. He retired after more than 30 years of service as a route salesman with Sunbeam Bread Company. He was a member and deacon of Scranton First Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Surviving are his wife, Miriam F. Strickland of Scranton; daughter, Dawn S. (John) Bell of Lake City; son, Josh B. (Kally) Strickland of Conway; grandchildren, Hunter B. (Kayla) Strickland, Joslyn Strickland, Austin and Avery Bell; great- granddaughter, Sophie Matthews and soon to be great-grandson; brother, Reverend Wallace (Annie Lou) Strickland of Lake City; and sister, Helen Morris of Timmonsville.
Funeral services will be 2:30 PM, Thursday, September 14, 2017 at Scranton First Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial, with full military honors, will follow at Pine Dale Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at Carolina Funeral Home, Scranton.
