Aurelia Carmon Obituary

Mrs. Aurelia Floyd Carmon, 85, of Scranton, SC, entered into the loving arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ on Thursday, August 2, 2018, where she is now pain free and at peace.

Aurelia was born in Florence County to Fannie Sue and Clarence Julian Floyd on September 2, 1932.  The youngest of 5 siblings, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ashton L. Carmon in 1996, her brothers Drayton (Carolyn), Keith (Ida Lee), Castle (Linnie Bell), all of Lake City, and a sister, Erma (Whiteford) James of Sardinia.

She is survived by her loving children, a daughter Patsy (John) Blocker of West Columbia; sons, Randy (Lynn) Carmon of Pawleys Island and Richard Carmon of Florence; former daughter-in-law, Brenda Sheheen Carmon of Camden; four grandsons, John "Chip" and Krystine Blocker of Fort Mill, Ashton "Biff" and Meredith Blocker of West Columbia, Channing and Elizabeth "Liz" Carmon of Columbia, Stephen and Loren Carmon of Camden; two great-grandchildren, Emma Blocker and Mason Carmon, with one due in January, Hallie Carmon.

The family would like to extend special thanks to her doctors, Rodney Rhinehart, M.D., David Greenhouse, M.D., and Angie Riddle, Nurse Practitioner.  Also, all her caregivers at NHS West Columbia, especially Pam, Leslie, Faye, Kia, Kitty, Tonya, Marshell, Nikita, Lois, Amy and Sandra for the kind and thoughtful care she received until her death.  Also, thank you to all the members of her Caris Healthcare team for making her comfortable and at ease until her passing.

Her world was never as bright upon the death of her husband, but the delight of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren gave her purpose.  There was no finer wife, mother, housekeeper, and cook.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, August 4, 2018, at New Zion Baptist Church.  Burial, directed by Carolina Funeral Home, will follow in the McClam Cemetery, 2030 US 378 Lake City, SC.
