Betty Lou Nexsen Culick, 82, died Sunday, August 13, 2017, at McLeod Hospice House in Florence, South Carolina, after a long battle with dementia (Alzheimer's).

She was born September 25, 1934, in Cades, South Carolina, the daughter of the late Leland Ivy Nexsen and Eleida Parrott Nexsen and was one of thirteen children. She attended Williamsburg County schools and was retired from Baxter Laboratories.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her late husband, Willie C. "Bill" Culick, one grandson, David L. Smith; five brothers, Vardell, Sam, Leland, James, and Junior Nexsen; and three sisters, Lucille Nexsen Disher, Margaret Nexsen Disher, and Eleida Mae Nexsen Burrows.

Surviving are: three daughters, Carolyn C. Fenters of Charleston; Dianne C. (Dale) Smith of Lake City;  Kathy C. (Larry) Hanna of Garden City; one son, Anthony C. "Tony" (Elaine) Culick of Kingstree;  seven grandchildren, Amanda Fenters, Scott (Beth) Smith, Roger Smith, Lauren (Robert) Harp, Will Culick, and Frank Culick; four great-grandchildren, Caitlin Smith, Carlie Anne Smith, Isabella Keith, and Hayden Harp; two sisters, Alma Nexsen of Florence and Mary Sue Hewitt of Myrtle Beach; and two brothers, Billy Nexsen of Cades and Paul Nexsen of Scranton.

Betty grew up on a farm in Williamsburg County. She loved the outdoors, and gardening was a source of great pride for her. Betty was a devoted Christian.  She loved God, her church and her family.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at Lake City Memorial Park, 522 W Main Street, Lake City, South Carolina. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
