LAKE CITY: Mr. Robert Eugene “Bob” Neighbors, 75, husband of Dorothy Tilley Neighbors, died Friday, January 29, 2010, at Carolinas Hospital System, Florence, SC, after an illness.
Mr. Neighbors was born on March 30, 1934, in Kansas City, Kansas, a son of the late John William Neighbors and Louise Kenarde Neighbors. Before retiring, he worked as a stevedore at the Naval Weapons Station, Concord, California, as an explosives specialist. He was an “RV” enthusiast who loved to travel, especially loved Yosemite National Park, and the outdoors, hunting and fishing. Mr. Neighbors enjoyed eating out with Mexican food being his favorite.
Surviving include: His wife, Dorothy Neighbors of Lake City; children, Larry Neighbors and his wife, Patricia of Lake City, Barbara Hamic of Ottawa, Kansas, Robert Neighbors, II of Fresno, California, Laura Neighbors and her husband, Brandon Powers of Carmichael, California, and John Neighbors and his wife, Kara of Citrus Heights, California; step-children, Cheryl Davis and her husband, Winston of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, William “Bill” Tuck of Lake City, Carol Gates and her husband, Dan of Scottsdale, Arizona and Timothy Tuck and his wife, Dyanna of Martinez, California; 28 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Diane Howard.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 3, 2010, at Carolina Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Lake City Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 3:00 P.M. Wednesday at Carolina Funeral Home, 215 E. Highway 378 ByPass, Scranton, South Carolina.
