SCRANTON: Mrs. Polly Dennis Miller, 71, widow of James Covington “Tom” Lynch died Wednesday, February 17, 2010, at Carolinas Hospital System, Florence, after an illness.

Mrs. Miller was born March 20, 1938, in Florence County, a daughter of the  late Cox Nathaniel Dennis, Sr. and Georgia Lola Belle Moore Dennis.  She retired as District Manager of World Book Encyclopedia, was a member of Scranton Baptist Church and a graduate of JC Lynch High School.  Mrs. Miller was instrumental in forming and later serving as neighborhood chairperson of the local Brownie, Girl Scout and Cub Scout Troops.

Surviving are her children, Tamra L. McKee and her husband Ed of Scranton, Gerry L. Lynch of Lake City and Glenn Lynch and his wife Rita of Lamar; seven grandchildren and  ten great grandchildren.  She was predeceased by three sisters, Mary Dennis Haselden, Ruth Dennis Evans and Frances Dennis Ussery and a brother Carroll N. Dennis, Jr.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 20, 2010 in the Carolina Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the High Hill Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Friday at Carolina Funeral Home, 215 E. Highway 378 ByPass, Scranton, SC.
