Lake City: Mrs. Marian Strong Fenters, 84, widow of A. L.“Tub” Fenters, died Tuesday, July 14, 2009, in Commander Nursing Center, Florence, SC, after an illness.
Mrs. Fenters was born February 27, 1925, in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late Samuel Alford Strong and Isla Olivia Cantley Strong. She was a retired school teacher with Florence County District No. 3 and owned and operated a catering service. Mrs. Fenters was a long-time member of Calvary Baptist Church and the WMU.
Surviving are four sons, Ronald B. (Shirley) Fenters of Pooler, GA, James Eric (Shelby) Fenters of Lake City, Harold A. (Linda) Fenters of Cheraw and Stephen Brian (Debra Moody-Fenters) of Lake City; daughter-in-law, Linda C. Fenters of Camden, sister, Margaret (Jack) Singletary of Santee; 11 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Wayne Thomas Fenters; brothers, Theron Strong and Ralph Strong and sisters, Louise Owens and Helen Matthews.
Funeral service will be at 4:00 P.M. Friday, July 17, 2009, in Carolina Funeral Home Chapel, 215 E. Highway 378 ByPass, Scranton, SC. Burial will follow in the Lake City Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 4:00 P.M. Friday before the service in the funeral home, and at other times in the home of Edith and Julius LaPalme, 2293 Green Road, Lake City, SC.
