FLORENCE: Mrs. Lessie Rea Lee McKenzie, 74, widow of William Duncan McKenzie, died Thursday, January 21, 2010, at Carolinas Hospital System, Florence, South Carolina, after an illness.
Mrs. McKenzie was born on September 22, 1935, in Florence, South Carolina, a daughter of the late Laborn Fletcher Lee and Ida Mae L. Lee. She was the owner and operator of Airport Shell in Florence.
Surviving Include: Two daughters, Lisa M. (Scott) Perdue and Debra M. King, both of Florence, step-son, Tim McKenzie of Timmonsville; sister, Carolyn McKenzie of Florence; five grandchildren, Melissa Mixon (John) Pforr of Florence, Ve Rowan of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Ashley Renee Rowan, Brittney Taylor King and Heather Gail Perdue, all of Florence; and two great-grandchildren, Kelsey Amber Pforr and Madison Rose Pforr, both of Florence.
Mrs. McKenzie was predeceased by her first husband, Leo F. Mixon; a son, Frankie Ray Mixon; three brothers, Sam Lee, Ray Lee and Charles Lee and by two sisters, Genoise Collins and Kathleen Meggs.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, January 24, 2010, at Redeemed Holiness Church with burial in Florence Memorial Gardens, directed by Carolina Funeral Home of Scranton, South Carolina.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Saturday, January 23, 2010, at Redeemed Holiness Church, Christy Lane, Effingham, South Carolina.
