LAKE CITY: Mrs. Frances Cooke Floyd, 76, died Sunday, February 14, 2010, at Agape Hospice House, Conway, SC, after an illness, surrounded by her family and loved ones.

Mrs. Floyd was born on August 4, 1933, in Florence County, a daughter of the late Luther E. Cooke and Ellen Evans Cooke. She retired from Korn Industries of Sumter in 1998, and was a member of Scranton United Methodist Church. Mrs. Floyd was first married to the late James C. Harrell and later to the late Elro A. “Sonny” Floyd. She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly and will be greatly missed by them all.

Surviving are her children: James A. Harrell and his wife, Rhonda of Summerville, Robert B. Floyd and his wife, Sharon of Lake City, Kimberly H. Allen and her husband, Frankie of Scranton, Connie F. Short of Navarre, Florida and son-in-law, Fred Javier of Navarre, Florida; her grandchildren, Brandi Kirby, Julie Hamilton, Cyndy Lewallen and her husband, Eric, Kevin Harrell, Michelle Allen, Alexis Short, Andrew Floyd, Brian Floyd, Adam Floyd and Travis Javier; her great-grandchildren, Savanna Kirby, Max Kirby, Jayce Hamilton, Cayden Hamilton, Tristen Lewallen and Sierra Short; and her sister, Barbara C. Rogers of Coward. Mrs. Floyd was predeceased by a daughter, Diann Harrell Javier; sister, Helen C. McDonald; two brothers, Luther E. Cooke, Jr. and Donald E. Cooke; half-sister, Louise C. Brown and three half-brothers, Harmon Cooke, Fred Cooke and Gene Cooke.

Graveside funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, February 17, 2010, in Lake City Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 16, 2010, at Carolina Funeral Home, 215 E. Highway 378 ByPass, Scranton, SC, and at other times in the home: 477 Turbeville Highway, Lake City, SC.

The family would especially like to thank her caregivers: Nell Parker, Rita Goins, Sandy Rogers, Penny Blanchard, Shelia Nelson and Konicke Brown for all their love and concern shown to their mother. Also, the nurses and doctors at Agape Hospice House who went out of their way to care for their mother and her family during this time.
