COWARD: Mr. Deryl W. Nettles, 63, died Wednesday, August 4th, 2010, at his son’s residence in Timmonsville after an illness.

Mr. Nettles was born August 4th, 1947, in Florence County, a son of the late Winston Nettles and Rosella Matthews Nettles. He worked as a machinist for Superior Machine Company in Florence for 33 years before retiring. He was a member of the Tabernacle in the Wilderness Church and loved his family, fishing, riding horses and his motorcycle.

Surviving include: His sons, Daryl Timothy nettles and his fiancé, Crystal of Timmonsville and Tony Ray Nettles and his wife, Jacinda of Lamar; grandchildren, Summer Nettles of Lamar, Natasha Blackwell of Darlington, Desiree Nettles of Timmonsville and Selena Nettles of Lamar; great-grandson, Bentley Blackwell of Darlington; his former wife of 25 years and special friend, Linda Nettles of Timmonsville; brother, Billy Matthews of Lake City; sisters, Betty Fowler of Florence, Patricia Thompson of Wallace and Mae Bryant of Coward; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Serena Nettles.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Friday evening, August 6th, at Carolina Funeral Home, 215 E. Highway 378 ByPass, Scranton, SC, and at other times at the home of his sister: Betty Fowler, 1810 W. John Paul Jones Road, Florence, SC.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, August 7th, 2010, at the Tabernacle in the Wilderness Church. Burial, directed by Carolina Funeral Home, will follow in the Hewitt Cemetery, Coward, SC.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to all their family and friends who helped during this crisis.
