LAKE CITY: Mr. Cody Bert Sauls, 69, husband of Lizzie M. Sauls, died Saturday, November 7, 2009, at the VA Medical Center, Charleston, SC, following an illness.
Mr. Sauls was born May 26, 1940, in Florence County, a son of the late Elijah Graham Sauls and Winnie Jewel Gaskins Sauls. He was a farmer for many years, former owner of Sauls Grocery and retired owner and operator of Carolina Pump Company. He was a member of Camp Branch Pentecostal Holiness Church and a veteran of the United States Air Force. Mr. Sauls was an avid outdoorsman with fishing being his favorite hobby.
Surviving are his wife, Lizzie Miles Sauls of Lake City; daughter, Wanda Miles of Timmonsville; sons, Donnie E. Sauls and his wife, Kelly of Lake City and Billy J. Sauls and his wife Jessalynn of Florence; grandchildren, Brooks Miles, Dana Miles, Brittany Sauls, Logan Sawyer, Dakota Sauls, Cody Sauls, Shaylee Barrineau, Garrett Sauls and Gracie Sauls; great-grandchild, Gayge Miles; sister, Rosa Nell Weaver of Lancaster; and brother, W. C. Sauls and his wife, Marcia of Scranton. He was predeceased by a grandson, Michael Sauls, brothers, Clifford Sauls and Sonny Sauls; and sisters, Dot Matthews, Ruby Nettles and Wilma Lamb.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 11, 2009, in Camp Branch Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial, with full military honors, will follow in the church cemetery directed by Carolina Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 9:00 P.M., Tuesday, November 10th at Carolina Funeral Home, 215 E. Highway 378 ByPass, Scranton, SC, and at other times at the home: 1278 Jordan Road, Lake City, SC.
