SCRANTON: Mrs. Bleecker Gause Godwin, 93, widow of Willard E. Godwin, died Monday, February 15, 2010, at her home after an illness.
Mrs. Godwin was born March 27, 1916, in Florence County, a daughter of the late John F. “Bub” Gause and Tula Collins Gause. She attended J. C. Lynch School and was a charter and active member of Lynches River Free Will Baptist Church.
Surviving are her children: Willa Jean Godwin of the home, Roger M. ( Barbara) Godwin and Anne G. (James R.) Miles all of Florence, Eve G. (D.J.) Lynch of Lake City and Edward E. (Sarah) Godwin of Simpsonville; her grandchildren, Denise Lynch of Sumter, Dana G. (Chip) Holladay of Asheville, North Carolina, Laura L. (Richard) Willimon of LaGrange, Georgia, Marti M. (Bryan) Bluestein of Columbia, Julie L. (Billy) Weaver of Lake City, Walt Godwin of Charleston and Emily Godwin of Simpsonville; her great-grandchildren, Josh, Sarah and Jesse Holladay of Asheville, North Carolina, Kinsey, Sydney and Reece Bluestein of Columbia, Elizabeth, Evelyn and Richard Willimon of LaGrange, Georgia, and Rebecca, Hannah and Grace Weaver of Lake City; and her siblings: John F. Gause, Jr. of Santa Rosa, California, Jewell G. Hoeffer of Columbia, Guy Gause of DuPo, Illinois and Ryan Gause of Destin, Florida; and numerous nieces, nephews, church family and special friends. Mrs. Godwin was predeceased by three brothers, Vincent Gause, Stanton Gause and Collins Gause and two sisters, Avis Wallace and Claire Gennaro.
The family will have visitation Tuesday night, February 16th, from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Carolina Funeral Home, 215 E. Highway 378 ByPass, Scranton, SC, and at other times at her home: 858 West Camp Branch Road, Scranton, SC.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, February 17, 2010, at Lynches River Free Will Baptist Church with burial in the High Hill Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery, directed by Carolina Funeral Home, Scranton, SC.
